でっかいパンプキン！

夏休みが終りましたね。朝夕、涼しくなってきましたが、皆さん、体調不良を起こさないようにして下さいね！

さて、日本では珍しいオレンジのかぼちゃを頂きました。アメリカでは、ハロウィンにこのかぼちゃに彫り物をして、中にロウソクを灯して飾ります。

なかなか目にすることがないので、皆さん、触ってみたり、そしてあまりにも大きく立派なので、座ってみたり・・・記念撮影などをしながら、楽しんでもらっています♪♪

今日は、ダニエルがドリルや包丁を使いながら彫り物をしました！教室に飾っているので、見に来て下さいね！

 

 

Laura's Introduction

Hello!

My name is Laura Beecroft and I'm really happy to be working at K&F in Mihara. I'm originally from a small town in Canada but have been living and teaching in China and Korea since 2007.

I've lived all over Canada but my hometown is Owen Sound, Ontario. Located on Georgian Bay, it's surrounded by nature, water and friendly people. The summers are hot and the winters are snowy.

I have an older brother with two small kids. They are really adventurous and are learning to use chopsticks. My parents are also adventurous and love travelling. 

My main interest in life is food. I'm always learning about food history and culture, cooking, hosting dinner parties, and of course eating. I don't have a favourite food, but I love spicy things, noodles, and vegetables.

When I'm not thinking about food, I'm probably out for a walk or doing yoga. I've been practicing for over ten years and am also a yoga teacher.

My first experience in Japan was climbing Mount Fuji. We climbed 8 hours overnight to get to the summit for sunrise. The trek was long and cold but seeing the sun rise and finally feeling the warmth of the sun was indescribable. The tragic ending to this story is that my camera died and I only have one single photo to prove that I got to the top!

I've had a fantastic time living and teaching abroad and can't wait for Mihara to become my home.

こんにちは!ローラ・ビークロフトと申します。今回K&F三原校でみなさんに英語を教える機

会が持てたことを大変嬉しく思っています。

カナダの出身ですが、2007年以降中国と韓国で英語を教えてきました。もともとの生まれ

は、オンタリオ州のオーウェンサウンドという、ジョージア湾に面した小さな町で、自然

や水に囲まれ、心温かい人々がたくさん暮らしている所です。夏はとても暑く、冬は雪

がたくさん降ります。

私の兄には小さい子供が二人いますが、何にでも興味を持ち、今は箸の使い方を習

っています。私の両親もアクティブで、旅行が趣味です。

私自身が一番興味を持っていることは「食」についてです。食べ物の歴史・文化を知るこ

とが好きで、料理や夕食会を開いたり、もちろん食べることも大好きです。特別好きな食

べ物があるわけではありませんが、辛いものや麺類、野菜が好きです。食べ物のことを考え

ていないときはウォーキングかヨガをしています。ヨガ歴は10年以上で、ヨガインストラクタ

ーでもあります。

日本へは富士山に登りに来たことがあり、8時間かけて山頂を目指し、朝日を見ました。

頂上までの道のりは寒く厳しいものでしたが、ようやく頂上に着き、太陽の暖かさを感

じたときの気持ちは表しようがありませんでした。ただ、持っていたカメラの電池切れで、

私が頂上に到達したことを証明する写真は1枚しかないのが心残りです!

これまで海外で英語を教えてきた間、すばらしい時間を過ごしてきました。そして今回、

三原の皆さんとたくさんお話できることを楽しみにしています。

花火♪♪♪大会？？

夏の風物といれば、花火！実家では、家族での花火大会が習慣でした。

そしてなぜか、家族の花火大会で、開会と閉会のスピーチがありました。振替えると、懐かしいですが。

結婚後、昔話から毎年ささやかながら、花火大会をしています。もちろんスピーチ付きで。笑！

あと少しで夏休みが終りますが、学校がスタートする前に、皆さん～夏休み最後の思い出作り楽しんで下さいね～！

 

Goodbye!

It is with great sadness that I must say goodbye to K&F.  I have really enjoyed this past year and a half – getting to know all of the students and their parents has been a great experience.  I have also enjoyed my experience in the city of Mihara very much.  Both in and out of school people have been very nice and helpful to me, and I have really appreciated it.  I hope that I had a positive effect on all of my students, and I will miss them very much.  I encourage you all to work hard on your English, and I hope we can see each other again someday!

サマースクール/竹原校

皆さん、毎日、うなるような暑さですね。サマースクールが始まりました。

参加者の皆さん、暑さに負けない元気さで、サマースクールを盛り上げて下さっています！

今年は、竹原校では理科がメインになっています！

昨日は、化学反応を利用してロックキャンディとソーダを作りました。そして、口ではなく、これも化学反応の力を用いてペットボトルの中でガスを作って、風船をふくらませました。楽しかったですね♪

今日は、温暖化について学び、自分の温度計を作りました。その後、スーパーボール作りで、皆さん、代興奮！！！

８月４日（月）は、液体を使っての工作や地震観測計を作るレッスンがあります！

 

BBQ!

Hello everyone!

Last week we had our annual K&F Bar-be-que!  The weather wasn't great, but we still had a ton of fun! We all got together at Matoba Beach in Takehara, and we had a good time cooking lunch and swimming in the ocean.  

The water was very cold at first, but it was fine once you got in.  I had a great time swimming and talking with my students and their parents outside of class, which is something that I don't get the chance to do very much.  

It started to rain after lunch so we had to end a little early, and we didn't really get to do our planned boat race, but it was still great fun!  I even got to go swimming while it was raining, which is something I really like to do.  I hope everyone can join us next year!

など着る、脱ぐという英語を勉強しました☆

みんなお父さんの服で練習しました！とっても可愛い姿に今日も元気をもらいました！！
