Hello! My name is Ben Clemens and I am from Chagrin Falls,
Ohio which is just outside Cleveland. Chagrin Falls is a quaint town where it
is split by the Chagrin River revealing the majestic beauty of the falls. In
high school, I was a diver on the swim team, pole vaulter, and played lacrosse.
Having graduated in 2008 I went onward to college. I attended Ohio University
where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and graduated in 2012. My
family branches out in many directions resulting in many traditions and large
gatherings. Besides reunions, my favorite tradition is going to pick out a
Christmas tree for the Holiday season.
こんにちは！ベン・クレメンスです。出身はオハイオ州クリーブランドの端にあるチャグリンフォールズという町です。町の中央に川が流れていて美しい滝も見ることが出来る、とても趣のある町です。高校時代には水泳チームに入ってダイビングをしたり、棒高跳びやラクロスをしていました。2008年に高校卒業した後はオハイオ大学へ進学し、芸術人類学の学位を取得し、2012年に卒業しました。私の親族ははさまざまな場所に縁があります。そのため、わが家の伝統行事はいろいろなものがあり、一族が集まると大人数になります。クリスマスのシーズンになるとツリーを選びに行くのは私の大好きな家族でのイベントのひとつで、いくつになっても楽しみなものです。
Since graduating college, I
have traveled to South America and back, then to the west where I landed in
Salt Lake City, Utah. My biggest hobby, aside from the desire to travel, is
rock climbing. Rock climbing played a large role with me settling in Utah. Utah
is a beautiful state that has five national parks within it and has been
described as looking like Mars due to the red rock that can be found in the
southern part of the state. Another hobby of mine is playing guitar. I really
enjoy writing music and jamming with friends.
大学卒業後は南米を旅し、その後ユタ州のソルトレイクシティで暮らしていました。趣味は、旅行をすることはもちろん、ロッククライミングも好きです。ソルトレイクシティには国立公園が５つあり、私もそこで暮らしていた時はたくさんロッククライミングをしに出かけました。赤土の岩がまるで火星のようで本当に美しいです。また、ギターを弾くことも好きで、作曲したり、友達とセッションをしたりして楽しんでいます。
I am really excited to
come to Japan! Everyone I know who has been there has said nothing but
beautiful things. Though it may be difficult at first, I look forward to
perceiving the language and customs. I also am excited to meet my students and
learn about their own backgrounds and hobbies!
今回こうして日本に来る機会があったことをとても嬉しく思っています。日本に行ったことがある知り合いから、日本は本当に美しい国だと聞いてから、ずっと日本で暮らすことを夢見ていました。初めは戸惑うことも多いかと思いますが、日本の言葉や習慣を身に付けていくことを楽しみにしています。また、K&Fの生徒の皆さんのことをたくさん知っていきたいです。
