Shimane Obon Trip

During the Obon break, I went to Shimane with my family. We went to the aquarium, Aquas, and spent some time on the beach. My son was very excited about seeing all the different sea creatures. He particularly enjoyed the beluga whale show. It was my first time to swim in the Japanese sea - I was really surprised by how clear the water was!

お盆休み中に、家族で島根へ行きました。水族館アクオスとビーチへ行きました。息子はたくさんの海の生き物を見て、大喜びでした。白イルカショーを特に喜んでいました。初めて日本海で泳いだのですが、海水がきれいでびっくりしました。

サマースクール♪♪

毎日、暑いですが、元気なお子さん達に負けないようにパワーいっぱいで過ごしたいですね！

今年もサマースクールが始まりました！今日は、化石の出来方などについて学び、レプリカ化石を作りました。主に恐竜の化石についてでしたが、恐竜が死んだ場所や、その地域の気温・湿度などにより、化石の状態が変わるんですね～。私も勉強になりました。

たくさん学んだ後は、レプリカ化石を作りました～！

Pottery adventures in Okayama

Hi everyone,

two weeks ago Ben and I went to Okayama together with friends. We had some great food and visited beautiful Koraku-en and Okayama castle.
Okayama of course is famous for its pottery, bizen yaki, and at Okayama castle you can actually take pottery classes and make some bizen yaki pottery yourself. I made a pretty wobbly rice bowl, Ben made a very unique cup. The clay needs to dry for about a month before it goes into the kiln, so it doesn't break!
We had a lot of fun and spent a wonderful day in Okayama. It was my first time going there, but I definitely want to go again soon.

７月５日（日）、竹原市の的場海水浴場で毎年恒例のバーベキューを開催しました！
雨も心配されていた中、終日良い天気でイベントを終えることが出来ました。

全員で綱引きをしたり、先生達とビーチバレーをしたり、海で泳いだり、、皆さん楽しんでいただけましたか？
今年はハワイアンBBQのランチプレートも好評でした！
私達スタッフも、普段のレッスンでなかなか触れ合うことの出来ない生徒さんともたくさんお話できて楽しい時間を過ごすことが出来ました！

改めて、参加くださった皆様に感謝申し上げます！

日焼け止めをしっかり塗っていたつもりでも、家に帰ると真っ赤に焼けていました！
これも皆さんと楽しんだ思い出のひとつですよね！

次回イベントは９月中旬に１泊２日のキャンプを企画しています。
たくさんの生徒さんの参加をお待ちしています～！

Summer BBQ 2015

This weekend we will be having our annual Summer BBQ at the beautiful Matoba beach in Takehara.

There will be a slight Hawaiian feel to the event this year with ham and pineapple kebabs being served up for lunch. I know for people who are not accustomed to eating pineapple in a savory dish, the prospect can seem a little strange. However, the combination of ham and pineapple really works well, especially when barbecued!

　今週の日曜日、竹原の的場ビーチで、恒例のサマーバーベキューをします。
　今年のランチは、ハムとパイナップルのケバブで、ちょっとハワイを感じられますよ。あったかいパイナップルを食べる習慣がない人たちには、ちょっと変に感じるかもしれませんが、ハムとパイナップルの組み合わせは最高なんです！

Caterpillars, forests, and takoyaki...oh my!

Kyoto and Osaka; Check!

Two weeks ago, I went to Osaka and Kyoto for the first time. It was AMAZING! I instantly fell in love with the liveliness of the city and the enchanted atmosphere of Kyoto. Both are so different, yet very charismatic in their own way. During my travels, I ventured out to Arishiyama to see the majestic bamboo forest. In Osaka, I went to the famous Dotonbori St. where I ate lots and lots of Takoyaki; so good! Even though I had some stressful situations, I still had a great time and cannot wait to go back:)
